One of the best presentations on memoir and learning about autofiction that I’ve encountered and I listen and read alot as I work through my own. Melody provided so many ways to interact with my story and helped to clear up some confusion about how to proceed with the chapters/essays piling up on my computer. Her emphasis on ‘truth’ versus just the facts is really the core of a good memoir. I feel even more empowered to get back to digging into the threads of my writing and tugging on their truth a little harder. THANK YOU for bringing Melody to the Summit.
So much good info! And I love anyone who seeks out truth.
Photos. Diaries…letters from friend.
OMG.. I felt this presentation. It addressed so much of the questions on where to begin, how to fill in those awkward silent spaces and how best to tell your truth while pulling the readers into the moment by including the 5 senses. It is a bit emotional for me to learn how to pull things together to make sense without overgeneralizing, while helping the readers to heal through my own process, which guarantees them that above it all, they can triumph and be victorious in their processes.
Great presentation, really wonderful in-depth information. Melody is an inspiration.
LOVE the reminder to keep the five senses involved and not forget to bring the reader with you into the important moments. Give it all to them!!
I know, wasn’t that a great tip??
I am glad everyone enjoyed the session. Feel free to reach out if you have follow up questions.
